Connection | Multiplayer on PlayStation

Please be aware that Green Hell is based on the host-client system, which means that the Host of the given multiplayer session is the “server” of the entire session. Please note that any stability abnormalities with the connection between the players will impact the game.

If you’re experiencing problems connecting to your friend, Connection error, Timeout error, Desync issues, or disconnections, please perform the troubleshooting steps below along with your friend:

  1. Make sure that there is enough space on your hard drive for Green Hell to run properly.

  2. Reinstall the game.

  3. Power cycle your consoles (you can find instructions on how to do it in "Can't start in Safe mode" section): https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/cannot-start-playstation-safe-mode/

  4. Restore the license: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/games/restore-licences-playstation/

  5. Rebuild console's database ("What are the Safe Mode options?" section): https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/hardware/cannot-start-playstation-safe-mode/
It's good to backup your data before rebuilding the database.

  6. Please make sure that your PlayStation Plus License is not expired.

  7. Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and see if they have possibly blocked the ports we wrote about, or if they have any temporary outages. They can also advise you on how to forward them.

  8. Make sure your router’s firmware is up-to-date. (We advise to check this with your ISP)

  9. Enable or disable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on your router or system settings if your router has this option.

  10. Make sure both you and your friend have the same NAT Type, as differing NAT Types can sometimes cause connection issues and not being able to connect to the same session. You can check this by going to Settings > Network > View Connection Status.

  11. Occasionally, issues like these can be related to PlayStation Network services. You can check the status of PSN services here: https://status.playstation.com/ If there are any ongoing issues, this could be impacting your ability to join each other’s games.

  12. If possible, contact your Internet Service Provider if they have any specific ports blocked related to the PS4. The PS4 typically uses the following ports:

  • TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223

  • UDP: 3478, 3479

  1. If none of the above steps help, and if it's possible, try a different PSN account on the same PlayStation. If another account can join, the issue might be with a specific PlayStation Network account.

  2. If none of these steps resolve the issue, we suggest trying to connect at a different time, as network congestion could also be a factor.

  3. Additionally, if you have any other online games that use a P2P or Host-Client system, you could test them to see if similar issues occur, which might indicate a broader connectivity problem.
