Connection - Multiplayer on Steam Deck

Please be aware that Green Hell is based on the host-client system, which means that the Host of the given multiplayer session is the “server” of the entire session. Please note that any stability abnormalities with the connection between the players will impact the game.

We’ve prepared a few steps that will help to create an optimal environment for the game and most likely resolve the situation. Please follow below guides:

Check for software updates

  • Sometimes issues with connectivity can be fixed with a simple software update. Make sure your Steam Deck is up-to-date by going to Settings -> System -> System Update and selecting "Check for Updates". If there's a new update available, install it and try connecting again.

Check for network issues

  • Make sure that your network is not the problem. If you're on a Wi-Fi connection, try moving your Steam Deck closer to the router and see if that improves the connection. If you're on a wired connection, try a different cable or try a different port on the router.

Try a different network

  • If the issue persists on your current network, try connecting to a different network, such as a friend's Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. If the problem goes away, you can be pretty sure it's an issue with your current network.

Disable and re-enable the Wireless Network Adapter

  • You can try disabling and re-enabling the Wireless Network Adapter to see if it helps. To do this, go to Settings -> Network -> Change Adapter Options and press Disabled on the Wireless Network Adapter, then press Enable.

Restart the Steam Deck

  • Sometimes, simply restarting the Steam Deck can resolve issues with connectivity. To restart the Steam Deck, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or until the screen goes black. Wait for the Steam Deck logo to appear on the screen, then release the power button.

Check for Software updates.

  • Sometimes not running the same version of Software as your friend may result in difficulties with synchronization. You can check it by pressing the Steam Button > Settings > System > Software Updates.

Make sure you and your friend are using the newest, most stable version of Proton.

  • To check your Proton version, please follow to selecting Green Hell > Options Button > Properties > Compatibility > Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool > Newest Proton Version that is not labled as 'Experimental'.

If none of these steps resolve your issues, you may need to submit a support ticket to Steam to get additional help.
