Connection | Multiplayer on Xbox

Please be aware that Green Hell is based on the host-client system, which means that the Host of the given multiplayer session is the “server” of the entire session. Please note that any stability abnormalities with the connection between the players will impact the game.

If you’re experiencing problems connecting to your friend, Connection error, Timeout error, Desync issues, or disconnections, please perform the troubleshooting steps below along with your friend:

  1. Make sure that there is enough space on your hard drive for Green Hell to run properly.

  2. Reinstall the game.

  3. Reset your router according to manufacturer's instructions.

  4. Check different internet connections. In general it's advised to use ethernet cable, but for testing purposes you may try the wi-fi or a mobile hotspot from your phone.

  5. Power cycle your consoles: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/power/restart-or-power-cycle-console

  6. If you use, IPv6, try to disable it (it needs to be done on the computer). If you don't feel confident with changing that setting or you'll experience any difficulties with it you can contact your internet provider for some advice.

  7. Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and see if they have possibly blocked the ports we wrote about, or if they have any temporary outages. They can also advise you on how to forward them!

  8. Make sure your router’s firmware is up-to-date. (We advise to check this with your ISP)

  9. Enable or disable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on your router or system settings if your router has this option.
