Please be aware that we cannot reverse this case and bring back your progress, however, we have a couple of steps that should prevent such a thing from happening in the future. Situations like these can be caused by multiple factors. Therefore, please follow the below guides:

Verify Game Files in Steam

  • Open Steam > Right-click Green Hell > Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files. This can repair any issues that might prevent the game from saving properly.

Steam Cloud

  • Please make sure that Steam Cloud is enabled both in the Steam Settings (to access it, please select Steam > Settings > Cloud > Enable Steam Cloud) and for Green Hell (Green Hell > Properties > Steam Cloud > Enable).

  • As an alternative, you may try to disable Steam Cloud and progress just a bit (for example, add something to your inventory), save and quit, and see if the situation persists.

Storage

  • Checking if you have enough space in the Steam Cloud storage may also be helpful. You can check it by accessing Green Hell > Properties > Steam Cloud > Storage.

Router

  • Reset your router. Pay attention to resetting it according to the manufacturer’s instructions and not only turn it off and on.

Ethernet

  • Check different internet connections. The most stable and advised to be used is ethernet cable, but you may try with e.g. mobile hotspot from your phone.

Administrator rights

Run Green Hell with administrator rights. In order to do that:

  • locate the executable file (default path: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Green Hell\GH - the path may vary depending on where you installed the game on your hard drive);

  • right click on the “GH” file and select Properties;

  • click the Compatibility tab;

  • check the Run this program as an administrator box;

  • click Apply and OK.

  • You can run Steam with administrator rights as well (the default path of the .exe file is: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam. You should look for a “steam” file marked as an application).

Exceptions

  • Add Steam and Green Hell as exceptions to your Antivirus/Firewall.

Clean boot

Verify Write Permissions

Ensure that the folder where the save files are stored has proper write permissions. To do that:

  • Navigate to the save folder ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[Your Steam ID]\815370\remote").

  • Right-click the folder > Properties > Security tab > Ensure your user account has "Full Control."

Check Disk Space and System Health
