Performance - PC
To achieve better performance and potentially higher FPS in Green Hell, please consider the following tips:
Try setting the game settings to medium or low.
Try running the game with the lowest possible settings to see if it improves stability. This includes resolution, graphics quality, and disabling advanced effects.
Verify your hard drive space and RAM usage.
Not enough free space or memory may cause Green Hell to have stability difficulties.
Verify the integrity of the game files
In your Steam Library, right-click on Green Hell > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
Make sure your Operating System is up to date

Run Steam and/or Green Hell with administrator rights
In order to do that:
Locate the executable file (default path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Green Hell - the path may vary depending on where you have installed the game);
Right-click on the “GH.exe” file and select Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Check the Run this program as an administrator box.
Click Apply.
Running Steam with administrator rights is also advised (the default path of the .exe file is: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam. You should look for a “steam” file marked as an application).
Disable applications running in the background
In order to do that:
Open Task Manager.
Navigate to the Startup tab (if you cannot see this tab, you may need to click the More details button first - it’s located in the bottom right corner of the window).
Turn off all the applications that are not necessary for your system to run.
Restart your PC.
Perform a clean boot

Laptop
If you're using a laptop to run Green Hell, there may be not enough power to launch it, or run it. To help with that, please make your laptop use the dedicated GPU unit. You can do that by:
Access Display Settings > Graphics settings > Browse > Select the executable file of Green Hell (GH.exe) > Options > High Performance.
Antivirus/Firewall
Make sure to add Green Hell and Steam as exceptions to your antivirus software, including Windows Defender, and do not only to turn off the antivirus. You can try to add them to your Firewall as well.
Run Green Hell in Compatibility mode with an earlier version of Windows
Run Green Hell in Compatibility mode with Windows 7 or 8. To do that, please go to Steam > Right-click Green Hell and enter Properties > Installed files > On the 'size of the installation' tab, click "Browse". Once you are taken to the installation folder, find GH.exe and right-click> Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this program in Compatibility mode with Windows 7 or 8.
Virus
Make sure the system is not infected by a virus. Run a Full Virus Scan.
Run the System File Checker tool
Scanning your system files will show if there are any missing or corrupted files. Please find the tool here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833
Usage and temperature
Use monitoring tools to check the temperatures of your GPU and CPU during gameplay. Ensure they are within safe operating ranges.
GPU
Ensure your power settings in Windows and your GPU control panel are set to "Maximum Performance."
Disable overlays
Disable any in-game overlays, such as those from Steam, Discord, or GeForce Experience. These overlays can sometimes interfere with game performance and cause crashes.
Turn off and delete any mods that you are or have been using.
In some cases mods may interfere with the game, so if you are using them (even for any other Unity games), we advise you to check the stability after manually removing mods from the game, such as Unity Mod Manager.
If none of the above will help, please report the issue to us. If there is any information or an error code displayed, please make sure to include it in the description.
