Steam Cloud Error

If you cannot save the game because of a Steam Cloud error, please be aware that the Cloud Storage is uniquely made and maintained by the Steam store - so in any case regarding it, please reach out to their official support, after performing their troubleshooting guide: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/68D2-35AB-09A9-7678#conflicts

Situations like these can be caused by multiple factors. However, we prepared a few troubleshooting steps that may also help with this situation:

Steam Cloud

  • Please make sure that Steam Cloud is enabled or disabled in the Steam Settings and in the game's properties. To access it, please select Steam > Settings > Cloud > Enable/Disable Steam Cloud, and for StarRupture select StarRupture > Properties > Steam Cloud > Enable/Disable.

Storage

  • Checking if you have enough space in the Steam Cloud storage may also be helpful. You can check it by accessing StarRupture > Properties > Steam Cloud > Storage.

Run StarRupture with administrator rights

In order to do that:

  • Locate the executable file (default path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\StarRupture\StarRupture\Binaries\Win64\StarRuptureGameSteam.exe - the path may vary depending on where you installed the game on your hard drive);
  • Right-click on the “StarRuptureGameSteam.exe” file and select Properties.
  • Click the Compatibility tab.
  • Check the Run this program as an administrator box.
  • Click Apply and OK.
  • Run Steam with administrator rights as well (the default path of the .exe file is C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam. You should look for a “steam” file marked as an application).

Antivirus/Firewall

  • Make sure to add StarRupture and Steam as exceptions to your antivirus software, including Windows Defender, and do not only to turn off the antivirus. You can try to add them to your Firewall as well.

Disable applications running in the background

In order to do that:

  • Open Task Manager.
  • Navigate to the Startup tab (if you cannot see this tab, you may need to click the More details button first - it’s located in the bottom right corner of the window).
  • Turn off all the applications that are not necessary for your system to run.
  • Restart your PC.

Perform a clean boot
